Shipping policy

These terms are in addition to our general Terms of Service.  As stated there, we reserve the right to modify and amend this and any policy at any time by posting a new version to this web site.  It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically.

General Shipping

Orders placed Monday - Thursdays are normally shipped within 1 business day.  Orders placed Friday - Sunday are normally shipped the following Monday.  

We ship using UPS and USPS for all food shipments as per your choice at checkout.  For alcoholic beverages, we use a variety of 3rd party carriers.  Any periodic discounted shipping offers are only valid in the lower 48 continental US. If you have any questions, please contact us.

On occasion, we may need to modify the packing of your order, resulting in higher shipping charges than you were charged at checkout.  We reserve the right to charge you additional shipping fees after obtaining your approval and prior to shipping. If the increased shipping cost is not acceptable to you, we will gladly cancel and refund your order in full.  We also reserve the right to ship partial orders (split-ship), fulfilling out-of-stock items in a separate shipment at a later date than the items that are in stock.  Should this occur, we will cover the costs of the subsequent split shipment(s).  We normally only split-ship when we have the majority of your order in stock an only a few items are unavailable. 

We only ship to the physical address that matches your billing address if shipping to you.  We DO NOT SHIP TO PO BOXES.  Items or orders exceeding $1000 may be held before shipment until we can run further fraud prevention checks, which may include us contacting you to verify your identity and address.  We reserve the right to refuse shipping to specific addresses.

Refrigerated Shipping

Orders containing refrigerated items placed Monday - Thursdays are normally shipped within 1 business day.  Orders placed Friday - Sunday are normally shipped the following Monday. When possible, we ship refrigerated and non-refrigerated items together.  Occasionally, we may need to split-ship large orders into non-refrigerated and refrigerated items. 

Orders containing items that need refrigeration placed Thursday - Sunday are held until Monday of the following week to prevent spoilage during weekend holds with our shippers.  

Orders requiring refrigeration shipped to CA, OR, WA, NV, AZ can safely be shipped using UPS Ground.  Refrigerated items being shipped to all other states should be shipped UPS 3-Day or faster. We may hold refrigerated shipments during extreme weather to assure product quality. 

Alcoholic Beverage Shipping

In compliance with California and Federal law, we can only ship alcoholic beverages to individuals who are 21 years of age or older. Age verification is required at the time of purchase and upon delivery. All shipments will be marked as “Adult Signature Required” and our carriers will need to verify your valid government-issued photo identification before releasing your order.  For orders returned to us as undeliverable we will issue a refund after deducting outbound and return shipping costs.  Consider shipping to a UPS Store or mailbox provider after making advanced arrangements with them and with us.

Due to laws that vary from state to state, whether we can ship to you and how long your order will be in transit depends on the state your order is shipped to.  Our system is generally configured to reject orders from states we cannot ship to, but if our system accepts an order from a non-shipping state in error, we will cancel and refund your order.  All shipping times on our website for states other than AK, CA, DC, FL, and NM are estimates and actual shipping times may be longer than those shown at checkout.

No-ship states.  We cannot accept orders for alcoholic beverages from these states.


Title for all alcoholic beverages sold by us for shipment to an address outside of California passes to you in California. Freight terms are FOB Origin, meaning you are solely responsible for their shipment. By placing an order, you authorize us to act on your behalf and to engage a common carrier to deliver the purchased products. We make no representation as to the legal rights of anyone to ship or import alcoholic beverages into any state outside California. In all cases, you are responsible for complying with the laws and regulations, in particular those relating to the importation of alcohol in effect in the state to which you are requesting the shipment of alcohol.  Due to the FOB Origin shipping terms to these states, we are not responsible for loss during shipping.  We will exert reasonable effort to work with the common carrier we have engaged on your behalf to ensure receipt of the shipment or to obtain a credit for shipping costs in case the shipment is lost or damaged, but disclaim all liability for these shipments.

For mixed orders containing alcoholic beverages and other items shipping to states other than CA, we will split your order into separate shipments containing only alcoholic beverages (subject to alcohol shipping policies and terms) and packages containing the remaining items.  Packages not containing alcoholic beverages are shipped subject to our regular shipping terms. 

Shipping costs are calculated based on the weight of your order and the delivery location. We monitor weather conditions closely and may hold shipments during periods of extreme heat or cold to protect the quality of your wine.  Please contact us at customerservice@spanishtable.com to arrange for specific shipping methods or protection of wine.

We take great care in packaging our wines to ensure they arrive in perfect condition. However, should your order arrive damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of receipt. We will arrange for the damaged items to be replaced or refunded. Photographic evidence of the damage will be required.

In-Store Pickup 

If you have chosen “In Store Pickup” as your delivery option, your order will be ready by the time indicated or chosen during checkout. Once your order is ready, you’ll receive an email notification.  You can pick your order up any day and time after the time indicated on this notification during the pickup location's business hours. Please pick up at the registers.  We will make a best effort to notify you if an order appears to have been forgotten or abandoned. We reserve the right to discard and/or restock orders that have not been picked up within 14 days of the first notification and such abandoned orders will not be given a refund. 

Same-Day Local Delivery

If you have chosen same-day local delivery, we will arrange for the delivery of the item to the address you provided during checkout on the chosen date.  Please note that same day deliveries are time sensitive and you or a designated representative must be at the requested location to receive the delivery.  Our delivery agents will NOT leave deliveries at your front door and will have to return undeliverable orders to our store location.  Note that for deliveries containing alcoholic beverages, a person over the age of 21 years old must be present to receive the delivery and must present a valid government issued form of ID. Our delivery agents will not be able to leave ANY part of a mixed order, so you must ensure that a person over the age of 21 is present to receive a mixed order.  If our delivery agent does leave a package in error, we are not responsible for any theft or loss. 

Return Shipping

Please contact us at (866) 835-9777 or by emailing customerservice@spanishtable.com before shipping any items to be returned. We neither accept nor pay for unauthorized returns. Return shipping for defective items is paid for by us.  Upon express written return authorization from The Spanish Table, please package the item(s) using the return label we provided and drop the package at any UPS or USPS drop off location. Shipping costs for returns of non-defective items are your responsibility.  Please refer to our Returns and Refunds policy for details.

Same-day local deliveries that are undeliverable are subject to return charges.
