The iconic Ameztoi Rubentis is a blend of the local, indigenous Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza varieties, grown on traditional trellises high on the slopes rising above Getaria. In the 2000s, when almost all of the other local wineries gave up on their Hondarrabi Beltza vines, the Ameztoi family retained their old vines, in turn, lending their Rosť exceptional complexity. Rubentis, the regionís first pink wine, was inspired by the historic claret style which was once produced in the area long before the current global craze made Rosť famous. The backbone of the blend comes from an old Hondarrabi Beltza vineyard planted in 1840, preserved by the Ameztoi family for generations. Ameztoi Rubentis is an authentic original, a wine often imitated but never duplicated.
We have been a champion of this distinctive pink Txakoli since its introduction almost a decade ago at this point. This Basque wine, made in the town of Getaria along the coast near San Sebastian is lean and mineral with just a whiff of unripe strawberry aroma. This tart, spritzy rosado is much in demand and it was sold out before the new new vintage was available. It is now back in stock, but buy fast before it's gone again!
