Mas Alta is located in La Vilella Alta and was founded by two Belgians who fell in love with the area and the wines. Of all the cuvees produced at Mas Alta, Artigas has the highest percentage of Garnatxa (about 70%), with Cabernet Sauvignon and old-vine Carinyena making up the balance. Â From steeps slopes of schist in a warm terroir, Artigas is a silky and rich wine aged in French oak barrels, 1/3 new, 1/3 second fill and 1/3 third fill.

It's very fruit-driven, juicy and plush, with a mixture of berries, spices and Mediterranean herbs, aromatic, open and attractive. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and integrated acidity. What's not to like on this?
