Palo Cortado is a type of sherry between the Amontillado and the Oloroso style. It is quite rare and for the same reason, quite expensive. Lustau's Peninsula is the best value amongst them, no doubt. Robert Parker in person has expressed his love for this wine: "One of my favorites among the drier, lighter-styled Sherries is the non-vintage Palo Cortado Peninsula. Medium amber-colored, with great balance, intensity, and acidity as well as a scorched earth/roasted nut character, it is a stunning, flavorful yet light, crisp Sherry."
