If the wine business was a soccer team award ceremony, the Dao region would no doubt win the "Most Improved Player" award. Interest in Portuguese wines has soared over the last 10 years and the quality improvements that have occurred in that same time have grabbed the wine world's attention. Two friends who worked in the wine business, a winemaker and a wine buyer, saw the opportunity that Portugal offered and teamed up to form Gota Wine. They focus on making great wines from various regions throughout Portugal. Their Prunus Blanco is from the Dao region.
Prunus is made from a blend of four indigenous varietals: Encruzado, Bical, Malvasia Fina and Cerceal Branco. The nose has inviting aromas of passion fruit, pineapple, and wild herbs. The palate is well-rounded with fabulous fruit intensity, delivering layers of fresh honeydew melon, stone fruit and citrus.
