- Honoro Vera Organic Monastrell has had a place on our shelves for years. Though we're always searching for new and different value-added expressions of Monastrell, the Gil family’s products keep rising to the top. Not only is this bottle a great value, it really checks all the boxes for Monastrell fans. The certified organic vineyards are on limestone soils with an annual rainfall below 300mm, resulting in very high quality, concentrated grapes without the addition of chemical products or synthetic pesticides. Initially what stands out in the glass is the cherry-red rim and the attractive floral aromatics with balsamic hints in the background. Well-balanced and bright on the palate, it's vivid and tasty with nice acidity and upright tannins. This would pair perfectly with a mushroom-vegetarian paella or a Spanish-style cod with tomato saffron. Or try it with a selection of goat cheeses, or a big pot of white beans with butifarra sausage
