In tapas bar lingo, there are "tapas", and there are "raciones". Tapas are very small - just 1 or 2 bites, often eaten off a toothpick. Think a stuffed mushroom, a skewer of cheese and chorizo, or a few croquetas.
"Raciones" are large enough to share, and often eaten with a fork. Smaller than "entree" size, they're more like a US "appetizer" size. Think squid in their own ink, stuffed piquillo peppers, or patatas bravas.
These charming plates are "racion" size - measuring 20cm / 8.25" in diameter. They're also ideal dessert plates. A creamy flan would fit nicely, and be beautifully set off by the natural terracotta and cream decoration. IMPORTED.
