Lopez De Heredia Vina Bosconia Gran Reserva Rioja 1970

Lopez De Heredia Vina Bosconia Gran Reserva Rioja 1970 - The Spanish Table

Lopez De Heredia Vina Bosconia Gran Reserva Rioja 1970

Lopez de Heredia is one of the truly great wineries in the world. Sisters Maria Jose and Mercedes continue to make wine their great grandfather did over a century ago. And the wines age with singular grace and elegance. Their current Reserva releases are already over a decade old when released their much sought after Gran Reservas are over 20 years old.

The 1970 was an very good year in Rioja and this is drinking wonderfully at 50 years old. "It shows the extraordinary length, great expression and the pure breed of a truly great wine," wrote Robert Parker when he tasted it in 2006. We have tried it more recently and can only concur.
