" Exuberant, ripe raspberries, plums and boysenberries. Super
pure, youthful fruit here. The palate is cradled in web-like, fine and
crisp tannins threaded with spice and pure, succulent red cherries and
raspberries to close. From a more north-west-facing vineyard of just 2.3
acres with a lot of garnacha." 97 points James Suckling.
El Velado comes from another tiny plot of only .93 hectares of which just over 600 bottles produced. Telmo Rodriguez has returned to his homeland of Rioja with a flourish,
making several tiny single vineyard wines that are absolutely stunning. The 2015 has not been reviewed by the Wine Advocate, but it was a strong
vintage in Rioja. The 2014, a much more difficult vintage, received a
review of 94 points from the Wine Advocate. To compare, his Las Beatas
bottling received 96 points in 2014 and 100 in 2015.
