Envinate is a team of 4 friends who met in enology school and decided to work together to make wines from the places they were from. The team makes wine in Galicia, the Canary Islands, Almansa (near Valencia) as well as other places and have become very popular and hard to find. The Lousas comes from Ribeira Sacra in Galicia and Vinas de Aldea is their "village wine" if you will. Aldea means village in Gallego.
This is predominately Mencia, but it is co-fermented with the other varietals found in the 60+ year old vineyards that make up this wine. It goes through a natural ferment and then ages in a combination concrete and used barrels. It's elegant and pretty with medium bodied weight and very pretty floral and mineral notes. Flavors of high-tone red fruit and spice also form the core of this really pretty wine.
