Regardless of how you spell it shak shuka, shakshouka or chakchouka it is just delicious. This seasoned tomato sauce from northern Africa is typically baked with eggs and served with crusty bread for any meal of the day. Les Moulins Mahjoub produces this organic shak shuka that is loaded with flavors. Sounds simple with onions, peppers and tomatoes cooked in olive oil, it has a slight spicy note and great intensity of flavor.
A wonderful pairing with roast chicken or fish as well. And for that easy meal at any time of day...gently heat the shak shuka in a cazuela (or a wider saute pan). When it's hot, use the back of a spoon to make a couple of "wells" in the sauce and crack an egg into each. Cover for several minutes or bake in the oven, until the eggs are cooked to desired doneness. We also like to crumble some feta on top right when it comes out of the oven. Serve it with plenty of bread.
