The De La Finca is predominately Xarello
with Macabeo and and a little Parellada that comes from 5 different vineyard
plots on the eastern side of the hill. It’s bright and sings. Spiced apple,
floral and stony with a really long finish that is really focused and precise. The sparkling wines from Raventos I
Blanc are some of the best in Spain and definitely qualify as some of the best
Pepe Raventos at Raventos I Blanc has been a leader in biodynamic / organic viticulture in Penedes, the area that most Cava comes from. He actually has left the DO of Cava and is trying to start a new DO in the Arnoia River valley. The sparkling wines he produces are superb and they have become some of our top selling sparkling wines in the store.
"The blend of 50% Xarello, 40% Macabeo and 10% Parellada for the 2014 De la Finca was produced from different plots planted with the different varieties in the so-called fossil vineyard, Vinya dels Fòssils. The vineyard is in the east-facing part of their property and tends to produce the more mineral wines, with low pH and high acidity. Each variety was fermented separately, blended and left in contact with the lees for at least six months before being put in bottle for the second fermentation and aging of at least 30 months. This is the wine that they think best represents their estate, the one that represents the Raventós i Blanc style, with enough character from the lees and the Mediterranean character and the marine minerality of the soils." 92 pts Luis Gutierrez Wine Advocate
