Located in the Alentejo region of Portugal, Casa Relvas is the winery behind the Herdade de Sao Miguel wines (which come from the estate of Sao MIguel). It's a family owned winery that has grown to a decent size over the last several decades due to their quality. They make wines from several estates that they have aquired over the last decades.
This is the first of the 2019 roses we have seen and it's great. If this what we have to look forward to for the vintage, you'll be seeing a lot of new roses in the shop this year. This is a blend of predominately Touriga Nacional with some Syrah and Aragonez (Tempranillo). Flavors of red berries (currant, strawberries and more) along with vibrant mineral and citrus tones and a hint of fresh grass. It's got great freshness and surprising power for a rose. The 2019 does not have any reviews currently but on the most recent vintage (2019) reviewed by Mark Squires of The Wine Advocate he states, " It has been a very consistent punch-above-its-weight value over the years."
This is the first time we have tasted it, but if this is what we can expect from them in the future, you'll be seeing this for many years to come.
