Marques de Murrieta is one of the classic producers of Rioja and their Castillo Ygay is always one of the top of the heap. It is possibly the most round, suave, elegant, velvety wine in our extensive collection and in our opinion Ygay one of Spain's 'super-wines'.

2009 was a good vintage for Rioja, officially rated by the DoC as "Excellent") and many hail it as a 'vintage of the century'. As a result, the Ygay, which normally scores in the mid-90s is close to a 100 points in this vintage. Rightly so, it has made the #1 wine of the Wine Spectator's Top 100 list as well. This wine is hard to come by and we have the last few bottles.
