The Spanish Table has been around for over 20 years now and is now in its 3rd generation of ownership.

It all began in 1985. Husband and wife team Steve Winston and Sharon Baden were having dinner with friends who were planning a trip to Spain. On a whim, they decided to join in on the trip. Once in Spain, they fell in love - with the delicious foods, wine and the culture of the country. After returning to the U.S., they wanted to re-create their culinary experiences at home, but found it impossible to replicate those incredible meals, because the ingredients just weren't available. Their solution, open up a shop - why not?

The 2nd generation of owners, Andy and Tanya Booth, had met in culinary school, had spent time living in Spain, and brought their knowledge and love for all things Spain back with them. After working with the Steve and Sharon, the Booths took over in 2015 and expanded, adding one more shop in San Francisco to the existing shops in Berkeley and Mill Valley.

As of 2022, Bastian Schoell has taken the helm of the Spanish Table in the 3rd generation of ownership. He is proud of the Spanish Table Team, who know Spanish Food inside and out. He is also fortunate to have staff like Caty Salas, our Director of Purchasing and Import, who has 20 years of experience in Iberian Foods. You will find all members of our team to be very helpful when it comes to exploring Spanish and Portuguese cuisine.
