Finca Torremilanos is located in the heart of Ribera del Duero just south of the Duero River. Some of the vineyards and winemaking history date back to 1903, but Finca Torremilanos as we know it started in 1975 when Pablo Penalba purchased the winery and the 200 hectares of land that they make wine from today.

Finca Torremilanos farms biodymically and is certified organic. Several different vineyard parcels go into this wine, but they have one thing in common, they all have larger river stones in the vineyards. The stones retain the heat from the day as the sun sets and also protects the soil from drying out too quickly, as it is shielded from the direct sun.

This wine is a 90% Tempranillo, 5% Merlot blend.  The wine is from vines aged 40 years on average.  It's aged 13 months in American and French oak and lightly fined with fresh ecologically sourced egg whites.  The estate grows grapes biodynamically, so no pesticides are used at all and the pruning and harvesting are aligned with nature's rhythms.
